**About the role**:
You will be a key member of the energy forecasting team responsible for producing commodities/climate research and forecasts cover oil, gas coal and electricity. You will be responsible for maintaining our cross-country energy demand/supply models, price forecasts and forming a long-run view of the energy sector under the green transition. As part of this, you will interact closely with economists across the macro/industry/climate teams.

You will write thematic research on energy commodities and the interaction of energy and climate economics. You will also be expected to write quick reaction insights to news developments and how it relates to out outlook. In addition, you will contribute to writing the commodities team weekly and monthly briefs.

You have a flair for good writing, have strong quantitive skills, and be comfortable maintaining large datasets. A confident presenter who enjoys communicating innovative research would be a plus.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintaining energy demand and supply forecasts. Forming a view on the long-run direction of the energy sector during the green transition.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly commodity briefs.
- Forecasting commodity prices on Oxford Economics Global Econmoics Model.
- Writing analytic research and presenting research themes on energy matters.
- Writing quick reaction data insights to commodities news events.
- Interacting with economists/strategists across macro/industry/climate teams to maintain a joined up view of energy markets.
- Presenting our commodity view during webinars.

**Person Specification**:
The profile, orientation and skills that you will bring to the team include:

- 1-3 years of professional experience working as an economist.
- Excellent analytic and quantitative skills with experience of working with large datasets.
- Strong track record in analytical work and writing independent research reports to tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to explain results and their implications to non-specialists.
- Experience of energy/commodities forecasting would be considered a plus
