Duties include:

- Provide leadership to the depot operations teams
- Proactively manage all aspects of depot operations to produce consistent results in the key performance indicators of safety, customer experience, sickness absence, financial performance, route performance, lost mileage and compliance in line with specified targets, contractual obligations and commercial objectives
- Actively engage with our employees to improve employee engagement, morale and driver performance
- Develop local teams and ensure devolved accountability is truly embedded
- Work proactively with colleagues in other departments to ensure the excellent core performance of the business
- Cover for the Operations Director during periods of leave
- People skills - communication, listening, adaptability to your audience
- Self motivation, proactivity and excellent organisation and time management skills
- Experience in managing and motivating large teams to achieve high standards of performance
- Flexible approach to working hours and locations, with ability to attend run in and run out sessions outside of working hours and the ability to respond to “on call” situation
- Certificate of Professional Competence - Transport Manager (training will be provided if not)
- iOSH Managing Safely
- Experience of conducting investigative interviews, preparing casework, and hearing cases and appeals
- Previous experience of improving safety culture
- Experience in a unionised environment
