**Location - Horley**

**Work Hours - 40 hours per week**

**Salary - £25,313.60**

The Room Leader is responsible for the day-to-day running of their room and supporting the management team in leading the setting to ensure that high quality childcare is provided to all. The Room Leader is expected to fulfil any duty as required for the effective running of the setting. The nursery is located in the heart of Horley and has recently received a ‘Good’ OFSTED rating.

**Your responsibilities will include**
- Act as a role model for the Early Years, ensuring that the EYFS is implemented and followed throughout the room to an exemplary standard.
- Engage with the Nursery Management Team to understand and comply with registration and legislative requirements, including any requirements outlined by Ofsted.
- To fulfil the role of a key-person to an exemplary standard, providing a positive role model for team members.
- Ensure that all nursery initiatives are fully embedded in the room.
- Be the first point of contact for any parent queries for children in your room.
- Adhere to, and role model best practice safeguarding requirements.
- Carry out audits within the room.
- Provided day-to-day leadership and management for staff within your room.
- Be involved in the recruitment of staff, including but not limited to, shortlisting, interviewing and observing safer recruitment practices.
- Observe best practice and legislative requirements in all areas of employment and equality legislation.
- Assist and proactively support the induction and probation of new staff members.
- Support the Nursery Management Team with employment relations issues as required.
- Support the Nursery Management Team with the implementation of the Company’s performance management cycle.
- Identify training needs and support with the training and development of the staff within the room.
- Carry out return to work meetings following periods of absence.
- Assist in preparing the staffing rota.
- Develop an understanding of budgets and resource requirements and manage a small room budget.
- Adhere to legislative and Company requirements in relation to health and safety.
- Proactively manage risk in the nursery and role model safe working practices.
- Have a full and relevant Early Years qualification.
- Have a full understanding and working knowledge of the EYFS
- Be Aware of the Ofsted inspection framework.
- Have experience of leading a team and dealing with staff issues.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of equal opportunities legislation.
- Safeguarding training
- Paediatric first aid
- Satisfactory DBS check
