IT Asset Manager - Software Asset Manager (SAM)

The role can work from home 3 days a week.

The post holder will work within the IT team and be responsible for Software Asset Management (SAM). This will include software licenses, software acquisitions, compliance, maintenance, lifecycle planning, purchase orders and the decommissioning of assets.You will be responsible for the accurate compliance of software, responding to both vendor and internal audits within expected timelines. You will have a responsibility for the re-harvesting and support the procurement of licenses to ensure not only compliancebut cost efficiency across the business.

Duties will include:

- Lead, maintain and improve an enterprise-wide Software Asset Management platform
- Providing software asset lifecycle management from acquisition to disposal to include maintenance contracts, software licensing agreements, software inventory management, supporting license usage, modelling, decommissioning and optimisation within the business.
- Supporting software licensing purchasing through asset management and financial tools.
- Supporting and promoting the value of Asset & Configuration management policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance and reduce risk thus maintaining the integrity and security of the configuration management system.
- Assist management in software purchasing/renewal planning
- Plans, monitors, and records software and/or hardware licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
- Supports delegated software budgets, proposals, and vendor contracts for acquisition, monitoring, and compliance of hardware and software assets, management and procurement team to optimise software licensing agreements, identify potential savings areas,managed contracts, and create automated processes to facilitate software procurement
- Responds to queries on entitlement, process, and governance via the Service Management tool.
- Work with Suppliers, Technical Delivery Managers, Service Owners and other key stakeholders across the business to ensure SAM policies, procedures and processes are aligned and adhered too.

Skill sought:

- Strong knowledge and work experience with software asset life cycle management processes: planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, harvesting and retirement.
- Knowledge and experience with software asset management related international standards
- Experience with development of software asset management policies, workflows, processes, and procedures.
- Experience with license management and optimization tools, software discovery tools
- Strong knowledge of software publishers’ licensing models and software deployment and use rights
- Good experience in development and implementation of SAM process and procedures.
- Extensive experience of managing vendor relationships
