Veterinary Receptionist

We are seeking a friendly and organised receptionist who enjoys providing an excellent level of customer service to our clients as well as enjoying meeting and greeting their pets.
Hook Veterinary Centre is a busy small animal clinic, accredited to the RCVS accredited practice scheme, with 9 vets, 10 nurses and nursing assistants, and we pride ourselves on providing the best standards of animal medical care to all our patients. We currently have 4 receptionists and are looking to expand the team to 5.
The role of veterinary receptionist is an essential one, as it the friendly face our clients first see or hear on the phone, at times when they can be delighted about introducing their new animal or concerned with their very sick beloved pet. We are looking for a highly organised, articulate and enthusiastic colleague to join our happy and friendly team.
The role:
- Meeting and greeting clients in a professional way, allowing for sensitivity to emotional moments
- Booking appointments and liaising with the vets and nurses to ensure continuity and standards of care
- Answering the phone and, with the support of the vets/nursing team, triaging appointments and taking orders for food and prescriptions.
- Accurate record taking of client communications on the clinic computer system
- Discussing finances, taking cash and card payments and handling overdue accounts with support of the clinical director/practice manager
- Cashing up as necessary at the end of the day
- General patient filing as required, including scanning and attaching documents, medical charts and photographs to client records
- Assisting with any additional duties, as required, ensuring the smooth running of the day
- Working with all the rest of the staff to ensure Hook vets remains the happy team we pride ourselves on being
Hours of work:
- The role is for 40 hours/week (full time)
- Hook Veterinary Centre is open 8.15am - 7pm Monday-Friday and 8.15am - 1pm on Saturdays. Our emergency out of hours is covered by a local emergency practice.
Experience
**Salary**: £10.00-£11.00 per hour
