To ensure the day to day quality control of the laboratory to meet the deliverable requirements, including implementation of monitoring of the QMS.
Analysis of insulating fluid using a variety of analytical chemistry techniques, the results of which determine the condition of the fluid and provide customers with recommendations to determine appropriate asset management plans.
The individual will work within a small team environment and will have the ability to work with and manage other team members as well as being self-motivated and the ability to work on specific tasks. The Oil Diagnostics team forms part of the Analytical business within EA Technology.
The individual is expected to implement, monitor and deliver analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures and in line with the laboratory quality management systems (QMS) whilst identifying opportunities for improvements in efficiency, quality and effectiveness.
The individual is considered to be in a senior role within the laboratory and is responsible for ensuring that the laboratory quality management systems and ISO/IEC 17025 processes are adhered to on a day-to-day basis. They will be required to work closely with the Technical lead.
Overview of Main Responsibilities:

- Manage the day-to-day implementation of the laboratory QMS systems.
- Development and maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025 testing methodologies.
- Ensuring QMS documentation is kept up to date.
- Assist the Management Team in the development of training plans for new staff and the ongoing training schedules for existing staff.
- Ensure internal Audit schedules are adhered to.
- Ensure Interlaboratory Proficiency testing and internal round robins are undertaken as required.
- Undertake (and manage the laboratory Analysts in undertaking) a wide range of analytical chemistry techniques, as trained and approved, on insulating fluids in accordance with documented procedures and to meet laboratory delivery timeframes and quality objectives.
- The QC Supervisor is responsible for ensuring analysts are processing all daily calibration and quality control processes, including:

- Perform calibrations on equipment requiring daily calibrations.
- Carry out Check standard Analysis.
- Reporting of calibration and check standard failures.
- Reporting of equipment failures and breakdowns to the laboratory management, so problems can be addressed quickly.
- Completion and collation of Shewhart Charts with all calibration and quality check information.
- Check Repeatability of results and decide whether to rerun samples and report to the laboratory management for instrumental investigation.
- Ensuring that Analysts are carrying out their appropriate checks and highlight any issues with result entry to the Analyst.
- The QC Supervisor must always work within the guidelines of and assist in the development and implementation of the laboratory QMS systems and contribute towards its successful delivery and maintenance.
- Ensure updates for SOPs and documentation following changes in procedure are reviewed and approved in accordance with the QMS processes.
- Ensure the laboratory maintains good laboratory practices and ensure working area and instrument cleanliness.
- Identify and contribute to the continuous improvement process.
- Operate within the company procedures and policies.

Essential skills and experience
- Previous experience as an Analyst in a related field and in addition an in-depth demonstrable knowledge of analytical chemistry or evidenced experience of a similar role.
- An excellent understanding of Health & Safety regulations, COSHH requirements, ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 operational practices.
- Ability to manage a high paced, multi-faceted environment and demonstrable leadership skills.
- PC Skills, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to plan, implement, maximize and shape laboratory outputs.
- Ability to follow and produce detailed operating procedures and manage delivery of tasks in a prescribed fashion and without deviation.
- Ability to adopt a continuous improvement approach to the efficient, effective and safe operation of a laboratory.

Desired Skills & Experience
- Proven industrial or laboratory experience in analytical chemistry.
- Previous experience in a similar QC and ISO/IEC 17025 role.
- Understanding of high voltage electrical assets.
