We are looking for a Band 2 Ward Clerk to work on Ward M3 at Salford Royal Hospital. The position is Monday to Friday working between the hours of 8am-4pm.

Ward Clerks provide administrative support to the ward. This includes answering telephone calls, updating confidential patient data, making follow up appointments, liaising with medical secretaries, admitting and discharging patient on electronic systems, ordering stationary.

You may also be required to support the Phototherapy Unit attached to the Ward.
1. Act as ward receptionist and greet patients and visitors, including those with communication difficulties, on arrival to the ward in accordance with Trust standards and expectations.
2. Ensure that patients are shown to designated waiting areas, bed areas or bays and give information packs and/or leaflets where applicable.
4. Ensure that patient’s notes and other documentation are prepared and managed confidentially
5. Take responsibility for accurate data entry and retrieval via computer e.g, Patient centre EPR and other systems.
6. Ensure that discharged patient notes are returned promptly to appropriate secretaries or medical records department, including case note tracking.
7. Arrange follow-up appointments if required.
8. Ensure that patient admission documentation is maintained appropriately and that a record is kept of clinical activity, as required.
9. Ensure that stationery/supplies are ordered as necessary.
10. Ensure that patient’s notes on waiting lists are made available prior to admission.
11. Ensure that information is relayed appropriately to the multi-professional and/or multiagency teams to ensure the safe discharge and follow-up of patients.
12. Report/requisition broken or faulty equipment and furnishings within the ward/department
