Summary of Internship

Internship positions provide an opportunity for life science or mechanical students to get hands on experience in a technical and commercial environment.

How will you make an impact?

You will posses the desire, demeanour, and strive to work in a commercial environment. The 12-month Application Scientist internship is crafted to offer you the opportunity to develop experience with our Single Use Technologies product portfolio and introduce you to technical and commercial skills while conducting meaningful work supporting the remote Field Application Scientist team.

What will you do?

During the internship programme you will support our customers with Thermo Fisher Scientific Single Use solutions collaborating closely with the Field Application Scientists, Technical Sales Specialists, Account Managers, Manufacturing, Quality and Customer Care teams amongst others. Your engagement and level of commitment will ensure that our clients will get the right selection of products that will fit their current and future needs.

Qualifications/Competencies/Skills:

- Students required to complete a 12-month internship.
- Strong desire and motivation to develop a career in a scientific or mechanical field.
- Leadership and team building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Desire to learn, be mentored, and improve.
- Customer orientation (experience in a customer facing setting is advantageous)
- Previous laboratory experience is desirable.
- Experience with handling databases is advantageous.
- Track record of meeting time frames.
- Organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is required in performing all functions of this position.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills are required.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- To work alongside the current FAS to help provide pre-sales support to the commercial teams for the territory planning.
- Attend customer calls and on-site meetings alongside the FAS and support any relevant technical follow-up activities.
- To support customer training lead by the FAS on-site.
- Actively participate in FAS led internal communications i.e., FAS training, Knowledge Sharing Call series.
- Attend regular 1:1 meeting with internship supervisors and with the FAS Manager.
- Hardware up keeping and management.
- Reviewing technical drawings and documents.
- Taking part in process improvements, development projects, as well as contributing towards the resolution of common issues.
