**Overview**:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Shift Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.
Primarily based on an 8-hour day shift. The purpose of the role is to offer cover for the maintenance engineers working a rotating shift. You will ensure that the facilities, equipment and machinery is efficiently and effectively maintained in a safe and cost-effectivemanner.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Carry out tasks in accordance with all company policies and procedures developed to reach the goal of ZERO HARM.
- Lead by example, challenge behaviours openly and with respect.
- Systematic development of risk assessments.
- Report incidents/injuries and action root cause fixes.
- Identify, classify, control and eliminate hazards.
- Involved in the development of safety improvement plans for the team as part of continuous improvement.
- Carry out planned inspections/audits and address issues identified.
- Maintain a safe work environment with a high standard of housekeeping.
- Ensure the correct segregation of waste derived from engineering activities.
- Ensure that equipment pre-start checks are carried out in compliance with set standards.
- Ensure compliance with QMS procedures to promote process stability and capability.
- Controlling costs within plan including, consumables, supplies and material usage.
- Assist in the development of maintenance plans as part of the yearly planning process.
- Assist in the development of maintenance and operations skill levels.
- Participates in the development and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Involved in the engineering, installation, commissioning and handover of new projects.
- Use of planning and scheduling systems to improve the efficiency of maintenance operations.
- Assist with plan and organise work on allocated improvement projects and for the week ahead.
- Use of the purchasing and stores system to complete work requirements.
- Identify equipment issues and advise on work needed and opportunities for improvement.
- Trouble shoots equipment/process problems to root cause in conjunction with team members.
- Identification and implementation of recovery plans when work is behind schedule.
- Personal operation of plant, process or equipment systems as necessary to maintain and optimise work quality, safety and throughput of the team.
- Assists in a process of operator upskilling to take on tasks of lubrication, changeovers, audits, inspections and repairs.
- Ensures that the spare parts store is controlled and supports maintenance efficiency.
- Involved in carrying out Criticality/Obsolescence assessments and implementing action plans.
- Involved in using CI tools and techniques where appropriate, including; Standardised Work / 5S / TPM / Asset management / Kaizen teams.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- NVQ Level 4 / HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Maintenance or NVQ Level 4 / HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Maintenance.
- 18th Edition (or latest) Electrical qualification or completed a fully indentured apprenticeship, (minimum), with a multi-disciplined background (Mechanical and Electrical).
- Highly developed fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills - MS Office.
- Experience in PLC fault finding and diagnostics.
- Ability to understand and change ladder logic.
- Ability to read complex electrical and engineering drawings.
- Proven ability to identify and implement equipment improvements.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred - experience with implementation of best practice business improvement tools e.g. TPM, Lean.
