**Job description**

**Job Title**:LocalMotion Torbay Change Coordinator

**Reports to**:Torbay Communities Director

**Salary**:£21,528 p.a (Salary of £35,880 p.a. pro rata)

**Role type**:0.6 FTE fixed term contract or secondment until 30th June 2025.

**Location**:Working flexibly across the Torbay area. Nominally based at Torbay Communities and expected to travel locally enjoying a variety of touchdown work areas and community spaces.

Overall purpose

The overall purpose of the role is to provide practical oversight of Torbay’s LocalMotion work as it enters the second phase of this long-term, sustainable change programme. It will do this through supporting a diverse range of people to participate in an exciting range of action learning activities, creating clarity, commitment, and energy for all involved.

Background

LocalMotion is six funders developing collaborative approaches to address social, environmental and economic priorities that will make communities stronger. Arising from the long-term funding squeeze on local government and the increasing demand on charities to pick up the pieces, LocalMotion asks, what communities, charities, social enterprise, civil society, public and private sectors and funders could do if we work together. The six funders that make up LocalMotion are: Lloyds Bank Foundation, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Lankelly Chase Foundation, Tudor Trust and City Bridge Trust.

The LocalMotion work in Torbay intends to create stronger connection and collaboration within the community, helping citizens and professionals work together to solve deep rooted systemic issues. The high-level plan is to create the conditions for a collaborative action learning process where a range of people in Torbay can lead the way in relation to distinct systemic challenges. These challenges impact the life experience of our communities and the sustainability of all the systems that support them. The purpose of the action learning process will be to:

- Create a shared understanding of the problems.
- Develop and test new ways to tackle shared problems.
- Build stronger relationships within communities and between professionals and citizens.
- Build confidence, capability and agency for all involved.
- Test a range of co-production methods.
- Continually gather and share rich learning about acting on the wider system
- Bring about long-term sustainable changes in Torbay.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

Working alongside another 0.6FTE role to jointly coordinate LocalMotion Torbay:

- Champion, and succinctly tell, the LocalMotion in Torbay story in order to maintain energy and commitment from others.
- Help devise, plan and enable a range of large and small group activity across the Torbay area.
- Be the central point of contact for practical information.
- Manage and oversee the total budget for Torbay, including the administration of payment for involvement mechanisms.
- Work in partnership with the Coordination Group, Governance Group, specific working groups and relevant external experts who hold local decision making for LocalMotion work in Torbay.
- Represent LocalMotion Torbay in the national LocalMotion Strategic Stewarding Group, participating in decision making across the national movement.
- Help devise and implement learning mechanisms between the LocalMotion Torbay work, the wider system, and the funders.
- Ensure delivery of a range of methods to communicate the work in order to spark interest and engagement.
- Take responsibility for overcoming logístical challenges and last-minute hiccups.
