Volunteer role:
Hand & Nail Volunteer

Reports to:
Volunteer Manager

Commitment level:
Flexible - Wednesday afternoons 2:00pm - 4:00pm every other week (2 Wednesday afternoons per month). Part of a friendly team of Evergreen volunteers.

Location: Local Care Home in Stamford.

Purpose of the Voluntary role:
Our Hand & Nail volunteers provide a lovely treat for older and vulnerable people within local care homes. This valued service provides friendship, an enjoyable experience and is often a great little ‘pick me up’. It a chance for our members to enjoy a one to one chat whilst participating in a fun activity.

Key Responsibilities:
When attending care homes follow all their procedures, Health and Safety guidance

Honest and accurate in all record keeping

- Maintain appropriate boundaries and knowing the limits of the Hand & Nails role
- Raise any concerns with the Volunteer Manager
- Maintain confidentiality at all times unless given express permission to share information
- Uphold the Values of Evergreen Care Trust (Trust)

Key relationships:

- Working with other volunteers in the Hands & Nails team

Working with staff & residents at care homes
- Working with Members of Staff delivering the Trust’s ‘Paid for’ Services
- Working alongside other Volunteer Groups within the Trust

Skills, Qualifications and experience required:
No formal qualifications are required

Qualities of a Hand & Nail volunteer include: Being friendly, honest and open, caring, a good listener, reliable and vigilant.

Desirable Skills: Your own transport would be helpful but is not essential.

Training and support required:
We will provide training to our Hand & Nail volunteers can provide a simple hand massage and manicure

Online Safeguarding training is compulsory.

Shadow an existing Hand & Nail Volunteer

Regular updates and support from ‘the Hand & Nail team’

Invitation to attend relevant training courses as and when they are arranged

Availability of parking at work location:
There is visitor parking at the Care Homes.

Equipment:
Evergreen will endeavour to provide all relevant equipment for the role

Expenses:
N/A

Is this role eligible for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which is renewable every three years? YES

If Yes, what level of DBS check is required for the role?
