Biomedical Laboratory Assistant

**Job Summary**

The Molecular Diagnostics department is looking to recruit a pro-active, enthusiastic, and highly motivated HHTO to support scientific staff in the day to day running of the laboratory. In this role you’ll undertake clerical duties and data input in sample reception. You will also be required to perform basic reagent preparation, stock control and contribute to keeping the office and laboratory clean and tidy. You’ll also be on hand to deal with queries from hospitals, other departments, medical staff or visitors and to assist in the training and development of other support staff.

A good team player, you’ll be capable of motivating both yourself and others as you tackle a wide variety of tasks.

**Main duties of the job**
- You will be required to perform a range of routine and non routine tasks in the Molecular Diagnostics, with the support of your supervisor and other team members
- You will be required to undertake precise repetitive data entry tasks to ensure correct logging in of clinical samples and carry out routine administrative tasks on a regular basis
- You will carry out routine reagent preparation and daily QC tasks within the laboratory
- You will ensure lab consumables and reagent stocks are kept above critical level and order items when necessary to assist smooth day to day running of the laboratory.
- You will assist with laboratory cleaning and scientific testing when required, following appropriate training.
