**The Role and the Department**
- The Colleges Operations Directorate forms part of the Colleges and Student Experience Division which is responsible for providing world-class student experience to our diverse student communities.
- The Colleges Operations Directorate plays an integral role in providing excellent services and facilities to support the personal development of students. The services provided by the Directorate include catering, housekeeping, reception, security and maintenance as well as providing systems for the management of health and safety and food safety.
- John Snow and South College are two of the University’s 17 colleges which are multi-disciplinary communities consisting of undergraduates and postgraduate students. The two colleges are home to over 1100 students in college accommodation in addition to the undergraduates and postgraduates who choose to live out in the community, as well as members of staff and alumni.

The student communities, organised into the Junior and Middle Common Rooms (JCR & MCR), engage in clubs and societies led by dedicated Executive Committees of student leaders. Colleges hold a vibrant calendar of events and activities including formal dinners during term, alongside a wide range of academic, social and Charity events and volunteering programmes.
