The position of Overhaul and Projects Trainer and Assessor is critical in maintaining the capability of Alstom to meet the demands of our customers, as well as ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.

**Purpose of role**

The role is to support the range of projects that Alstom has in the North of the UK, heavy overhaul in the North West is a significant part of the workload, but other projects across the organisation will fall into the remit, particularly at Widnes.

The role will involve organising training and development of staff, culminating in assessing capability within their role.

**What are my key responsibilities?**
- Undertake training needs analysis in areas of responsibility.
- Design and develop training modules and material related to various types of rolling stock.
- Deliver training modules to staff located at various Alstom locations
- Develop and manage the performance of all team members and ensure that project skill requirements are met.
- Develop detailed project training plans.
- Encouraging change through learning and personal development.
- Identifying and developing suggestions for improvements so that project performance is continually enhanced.
- Provide technical guidance.

**What do I need to qualify for this job?**

You’ll be a self-starter, capable of communicating with local leadership staff and project managers in order to facilitate projects undertaken by Alstom. The role involves work across a number of Alstom locations and you’ll need to be flexible around location and work patterns.

**Essential**:

- Level 3 qualifications in Mechanical and / or Electrical Engineering (ideally dual skilled)
- A recognised assessor qualification - does not have to be current
- Experience in a rail or heavy engineering environment.
- Computer literate in Microsoft packages
- Driving license

**Desirable**:

- A recognised teaching qualification
- Additional training capability in crane and / or forklift truck operation
- Experience in a safety critical environment
- Experience in developing blended learning packages
