The Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement Department believes in the power of building relationships and partnerships with our valued alumni and supporters. And, in providing them with the opportunity to offer gifts of time, experiences and funding, which provide transformational experiences for our students and deliver impactful and world-leading research at the university.

The Philanthropy Officer is a newly created position where you will develop relationships with alumni and donors to raise philanthropic income and encourage volunteering to support students. In this role you will cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with prospective and existing supporters, and alumni through establishing networks with supporters and colleagues, and by undertaking research. We provide our donors and alumni volunteers with the highest quality experience where they are engaged with the impact their donations and volunteering.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills that develop strong relationships.
- Experience of working in a fundraising or a client focused environment.
- Experience of engaging with supporters or clients, as well as writing compelling narratives to attract funding.
- Experience of organising and running events both online and in-person.
- An ongoing openness to learn and develop your knowledge.

This role will require travel to other university sites and to meet with potential and existing supporters away from campus and Brighton & Hove. There will also be some events in the evenings and at weekends in support of the wider work of the department.

It is planned that interviews will take place on 8th and 9th January 2024.
