The team’s main objective is to enable strategic procurement across the Council, improve compliance and governance and to deliver our priorities through innovative approaches. We do this through building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, understanding the complexities of each area of the council and proposing solutions which drive efficiencies and savings. Our processes and systems must therefore support and enable teams across the council to deliver their priorities and we are always seeking to continually improve.

Throughout the Council, the Procurement Team will have a crucial role in leading and guiding the work outlined in the job descriptions.

Providing inspirational leadership as a member of the Procurement Services Management Team, as well as delivering strategic procurement support to the organisation and implementing the Council's Corporate Priorities, Transformation Agenda and Procurement Strategy, requires operational leadership. We aim to enable strategic procurement across the Council, through a team of professionals, and to provide procurement project support for complex, high value projects in a way that ensures our Citizens' needs and aspirations are at the heart of everything we do, delivers real results, and builds a culture of excellence, achievement, and continuous improvement. Assist officers involved in Council-wide procurement with leadership and direction.

**The core skills and responsibilities of this role**:

- Develop and manage an effective and efficient strategic procurement team, including procurement professionals in other departments, working in an integrated manner with Council departments and other teams within Procurement Services.
- To ensure the transfer of best practice and learning between commissioners, procurement professionals, through the coordination of a network of officers, in order to ensure continuous improvements and skills transfer among the procurement community, including service managers and commissioners.
- Establish and lead multidisciplinary teams as required to deliver procurement programs and projects. Develop high quality products, including project management, business cases, procurement and contract documentation, and supporting information, as required.
- Responsible for ensuring the optimum performance of the team through appraisals, goals, performance management, mentoring, and coaching.
- Through person-centered approaches, ensure that users, communities, Members, commissioning partners, and suppliers are engaged and involved in the delivery of the service.
- Deliver procurement analysis, sourcing strategy, cost modeling, and marketing strategy for the Council and Partners to meet the Council's and the District's needs with the ability to shape the market for the future.
