March, United Kingdom Social Care People Full time

**Support Worker**

Are you looking for a new challenge and would like to lead a team where you can work with like-minded people to make a difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in care? If so, we would love to hear from you

**Position**: Support Worker

**Location**: March, Cambridgeshire

**Job type**: Permanent / Full Time

**Hours**: Full Time (38 hours per week)

**Salary**: The starting salary will be £21,821 - £22,433 per annum, depending on qualifications. The maximum full-time job rate potential is £23,246 per annum which is performance related.

**Closing Date**:29th February 2023 at 23:59pm

**About the Role**

As a Support Worker, you’ll be working hands-on day in and day out with the young people living in the children’s home. For some young people, the behaviours caused by the trauma they have previously experienced mean it is too risky for them to live with others. The organisation’s intensive children’s homes offer these individuals - who often have nowhere else to go - a home.

You’ll work with a tight-knit team of colleagues to build a relationship and trust bond with the young people living at the home. You’ll be supporting them in overcoming their previous trauma and learning to trust in adults again, along with the help and guidance of your colleagues and the organisation’s therapeutic services.

The key responsibilities of a Support Worker are:

- To assist the management team in ensuring that the home achieves its strategic aims.
- To ensure that all your actions on duty are focussed on maximising positive outcomes for our service users.
- To be able to evidence the organisation’s values at all times, which underpin Break’s mission of ‘Changing Young Lives’ by: Listening to and respecting all individuals, working inclusively, doing the right thing, making a difference, being optimistic, inspiring and creating hope.
- To work as part of the care team.
- To access identified developmental opportunities for service users.
- To protect the service users from threats to their health, well-being and development, both from inside and outside the home.
- To maintain a home environment that is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the service users.
- Where possible, ensure service users are included in any decision-making related to the day-to-day running of the home/shifts.

**About you**

You’ll be patient, thrive in a team environment, be able to support those around you and have the emotional intelligence and resilience to manage challenging situations. To be successful in the role you’ll be patient, a good team player, and a problem solver.

In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits:

- Free, career-enhancing qualifications
- A “golden hello” scheme welcoming you to our services, with £500 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £500 at the six month mark.
- A referral scheme offering the same two payments as the golden hello if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by the organisation.
- A benefits platform enabling you to access discounts across a range of shops, venues and services.
- A free counselling service to all our employees.
- The opportunity to influence the organisation’s strategy and direction through the Staff Consultation Forum.
- Life assurance to the value of 3x your annual salary.
- Enhanced sick pay.
- Free flu jabs.

To comply with the Immigration Asylum & Nationality Act 2006 and additional amendments, and UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) requirements, all prospective employees will be asked to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

**About the organisation**
