**About the role**

Alzheimer’s Society’s Safeguarding and Quality team are looking for a Quality Safeguarding Officer who will provide expert safeguarding advice, audit and quality assurance support in relation to safeguarding across Alzheimer’s Society, enabling our people to provide excellent, safe services to people affected by dementia.

Quality Safeguarding Officers will be specialists in safeguarding; however, they will also understand other areas of the team’s work; namely in the delivery and implementation of quality assurance functions to ensure that safeguarding across the Alzheimer’s Society is of the highest quality. Quality Safeguarding Officers will be responsible for and supported to undertake safeguarding specific audits and quality assurance activity. They will ensure that the Society’s programme of safeguarding training, policies, and procedures are legislatively up to date and in line with good practice.

Quality Safeguarding Officers will often be involved in complex safeguarding work and will need to demonstrate empathy and compassion whilst enabling others across the Society to make good evidence[1]based, legislatively compliant decisions. The Quality Safeguarding Officer will champion the needs of those affected by dementia, ensuring best practice and safeguarding principles are embedded within the work of the Society and the services we deliver.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain significant safeguarding experience, enhance safeguarding knowledge and learn new skills that can be used for career progression.

You should have experience of working within a safeguarding framework, an understanding of safeguarding and associated legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, and an ability to relate them to practice.

You will be proficient in the use of RADAR and CRS for recording and to find information which will help support safeguarding practice.

You will need to be confident working on your own initiative as well as part of a geographically dispersed team.
