Carmarthen, United Kingdom Hywel Dda University Health Board Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic and friendly Clinical Health Psychology team to develop and deliver a new psychology pathway focusing on pelvic and women's health. The team currently works across a number of health specialties and we are keen to expand further into physical health services where there are significant psychological co-morbidities which affect coping and living with a physical health condition. We have recently had new opportunities to work alongside allied health professionals, medical and nursing colleagues within the new Long COVID services and Prehabilitation Orthopaedic Services and we are delighted to have an opportunity to expand further and explore new ways of working.

The role entails the development of psychological pathways within pelvic health and women's health services prioritising areas of need. It will be necessary to build close working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams within various specialties such as obstetrics and gynaecology, bowel and bladder, and pain services to develop psychological pathways for common difficulties where there is a large element of psychological distress such as endometriosis, menopause, incontinence and pelvic pain. The role will also involve development of a whole system pathway linking with primary care across GP clusters. As with our existing psychological pathways the post holder will be expected to design a tiered pathway of care, training and educating colleagues in lower level of psychological care, supervising and offering consultation as well as delivering higher level of psychological therapy. The development of groupwork will be necessary as well as individual work focusing upon models where there is an evidence base for both effectiveness for the clients, and efficiencies for the organisation as we are a department which is keen to deliver value based healthcare. The post holder will also be expected to drive a digital model of care to provide breadth and scope to service delivery.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

- Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales

Operationally we work across various services, however, we value coming together as a department for regular meetings to discuss and share information and ideas. We share good practice and service outcomes and continue to learn from one another as we strive to deliver innovative and effective services. We are always keen to develop assistant psychologists roles to test new projects and view this level of our teams as our future workforce therefore we are also supportive of our Doctorate Programme in South Wales, Cardiff. The Health Board is rural and geographically vast and, whilst this role is Health Board wide in its remit, working from home is a major part of many of the team's working patterns.

You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. If you do not meet the Welsh Language requirements specified, the Health Board offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these mínimal desirable requirements during the course of your employment with us.

Interviews will be held on 16/03/23
