As an experienced Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner from the NHS or private sector, you'll join a team that works in close partnership with Staffordshire Police and Mental Health Services, and you’ll join a Trust that puts people at the heart of what we do.

You will join an extending Liaison Psychiatry Service provided by Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, for all-age mental health presentations within the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) hospital sites - Queen’s Hospital,Burton, and the two community hospitals in Tamworth and Lichfield.

The main purpose of the role is to provide mental health assessment, risk assessment, and treatment, with the primary focus of the work being the high-quality assessment and treatment of patients presenting with a mental health issue within a physical healthcaresetting, many of whom will have physical health conditions impacting upon their mental health.

Important aspects of the role also include (but are not limited to) providing indirect patient care via formal and informal consultancy e.g. attending MDT meetings, offering opinions/advice, and supporting informal and formal training for the acute Truststaff in relation to mental health and wellbeing, facilitating the timely and safe discharge of patients from the hospital, and enabling hospital staff to manage risks related to mental health in the acute environment.

**Things that you will have**:

- Registered Mental Health Practitioner / Nurse / OT
- Professional education or qualification in psychological therapies, particularly CBT or solution-focused brief interventions

**What you will be doing**:

- Provide specialist assessment and care planning in conjunction with service users and carers, evaluation of individual treatment plans, and discharge planning.
- Responsible for maintaining quality standards, including the auditing, monitoring, and reviewing of practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
- Supply, administer and monitor medications, complying with relevant Trust procedures (for example Patient Group Directions and Non-Medical Prescribing) and NMC Guidance.
- Provide formulations based on patients' individual care needs; develop, implement and evaluate programs of care. Effectively communicate these plans and any changes to the person, their family/carer, and clinical colleagues active in their care.
- Deliver a range of interventions in accordance with the agreed plan of care and Pathway guidance including pharmacological and psychologically informed interventions.
- Undertake skilled and robust risk assessments, and prepare clear and confident risk management plans. Deliver and promote positive risk-taking, where appropriate, to improve quality of life and maximise occupational performance/independence. Provide suchplans

The role is 247 - 365 days however flexibility will be given - can do shift patterns 3 days on 4 off etc. travel is required within work hours across our two community Hospitals Lichfield and Tamworth
