The Trusts and Foundations Officer is a key growth role within the fundraising team which will generate vital revenue income for the charity.

The appointed person will be responsible for writing bids, prospect research, development and stewardship of relationships with trusts and foundations and report writing.

Working as part of the fundraising team, this role will work to strengthen relationships with key long-term donors as well as actively and creatively identifying new potential funders, helping grow the charity’s income from Trusts and Foundations.

This is a rewarding role that will work closely with colleagues across the charity to keenly understand the charity’s work. The role will make a real and tangible difference to the work of Diverse Abilities, supporting children and adults in Dorset living with profound physical and learning disabilities.

**KEY DUTIES**

**Income Generation**
- Work with fellow Trust & Foundations Officer to coordinate portfolio of trusts.
- Secure restricted and unrestricted grants for revenue income income.
- Maximise income from an established portfolio of grant-makers.
- Identify new prospects to solicit for grants.
- Coordinate with fellow Trust & Foundation Officer to identify revenue or capital focus for trusts, to ensure delivery of capital appeals.

**Research**
- Use a range of research tools to identify and research new opportunities.
- Develop a sound understanding of Diverse Abilities work and funding priorities.
- Monitor developments in trust and foundation fundraising, especially those that give rise to new opportunities for Diverse Abilities.

**Relationship Management**
- Work closely with colleagues across the charity to develop and keen understanding of the need for the charity’s work, and case studies of people supported and projects delivered.
- Identifying both active and lapsed trusts; targeting to grow or revive their support for Diverse Abilities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing grant makers, with full responsibility for all aspects of donor care.
- Support the planning and delivery of donor visits and meetings.

**Developing Cases for Support**
- Develop compelling case for support and tailored fundraising proposals to match funder interests, communicating the charity’s work with authority and empathy.
- Share notable case studies and reports with fundraising colleagues.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising to curate new funding opportunities.

**Grant Management**
- Ensure all gifts are appropriately acknowledged and recognised.
- Ensure reporting requirements of all grants are recorded, monitored and fulfilled and that donors are kept informed.
- Provide accurate, timely and informative monitoring reports and updates for donors.
- Follow restricted funding procedures and liaise with the finance team lead to ensure all funding is allocated appropriately.

**Administration and record keeping**
- Responsible for own financial monitoring and targeting and contributing to monthly and annual forecasts.
- Maintain up to date records in line with confidentiality.

**General**
- Comply with all organisational policies and procedures.
- Ensure all activity is brand compliant
