**The role**:
The Head of Regulatory Authorisations is responsible for ensuring that all regulatory authorisations and CPD functions exercised by ICAS are processed in accordance with ICAS’ Rules and Regulations, acting as Secretary to the Authorisation Committee, and reporting into the Regulation Board.

Managing the Regulatory Authorisations Team, you will contribute to, and frequently lead, the development and implementation of ICAS’ regulatory policy and strategy, with particular focus on regulatory authorisations and CPD. You will drive forward all related initiatives, including the successful implementation of recommendations from oversight regulators.

Within this role you will work closely with and assist the Director of Regulation and the Executive Director of Regulation in the delivery of their responsibilities.

**Principal accountabilities**
- Identifying, pursuing, and implementing improvement initiatives for the regulatory authorisations process, with a key focus on data, digital, and user experience. Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to improvement as ICAS becomes a more effective regulator.
- Oversight of CPD sampling, in accordance with the instructions of the Authorisation Committee and Regulation Board.
- Secretary to the Authorisation Committee, with key responsibilities in respect of agenda-setting, appointments, induction, training, and evaluation. Key liaison with the Convener of the Committee.
- Ensuring that decisions of the Authorisation Committee are appropriately processed and communicated in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, internal protocols, and any applicable KPIs (including withdrawals and suspensions of regulatory licences).
- Member of the Regulation Board, attending all meetings and presenting reports in relation to authorisations, CPD compliance, and other relevant regulatory matters.
- Key contact with oversight regulators in respect of regulatory authorisations and CPD, including attendance at meetings, membership of forum groups, engaging in policy discussions, annual reporting, leading on responses to consultations, accommodating inspection visits. Responsible for the successful implementation of requirements from oversight regulators relating to regulatory authorisations and CPD compliance.
- Key contact with other professional accountancy bodies in respect of regulatory authorisations, CPD, and associated issues, including attendance at meetings and membership of forum groups.
- Responsible for the communications strategy of issues relating to regulatory authorisations and CPD compliance, pursuing a proactive approach to content across various mediums (including website content, webinars, and other presentations). Ensuring that all content is relevant, informative, and accessible.
- Contributing to (and where appropriate, leading) the development and implementation of the ICAS Regulatory Plan, innovating and driving forward all related strategic and policy initiatives, pursing continuous improvement throughout.
- Devising and supporting developmental regulatory initiatives to promote high standards across ICAS’ regulated population, working closely with the wider Regulation team.
- Ensuring that the Regulatory Authorisations Team provides quality advice and assistance to individuals who submit queries in relation to regulatory authorisations and CPD compliance.

**Who do we need?**

You must be either a qualified accountant or a solicitor with experience of working in a regulatory environment. Knowledge of the accountancy profession, and the associated regulatory landscape, is desirable.
