**SEND Communications & Monitoring Officer - North**
Permanent, Full Time
Up to £29,703 per annum
Location: North Essex
Working Style: Community-based worker
The SEND Operations Communication and Monitoring Officer is a highly skilled communicator, effective at organising and monitoring the impact of a team. The core purpose of this role is to ensure effective and efficient processes and communication systems are in place between the SEND Operations team, schools, settings and families.
The role requires the ability to work in a high-pressured environment with an excellent understanding of the statutory process, the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice and the Local Area’s SEND improvement journey.
**Accountabilities**
- Design and deliver the approach to effective communications and monitoring for the SEND Operations service - to strengthen the work of the SEND operations team, within a quadrant
- Review the impact of the proactive communications approach on the customer satisfaction, reduction in complaints and improved reputation of the SEND Operations service
- Review the impact of monitoring activity, ensuring it’s cost effective and impactful
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders in the SEND and Education system, including parent carer networks and schools, to deliver joint objectives, which are mutually beneficial.
- Oversee, prioritise, and monitor responses to all incoming contacts into a quadrant SEND Operations team, from schools, settings and families.
- Design and deliver pro-active communications to families during the Education Health and Care (EHC) assessment process
- Work alongside Annual Review Co-ordinators to design and deliver improved communications during the Annual Review process
- Support efficient statutory decision making, through logging panel decisions, organising initiation panel agendas and co-ordinating panel attendance by health, social care, schools and settings
- Analyse feedback from schools, settings and families, in-line with the work of the Co-ordination and Oversight Groups (COGs).
- Design and deliver SEND Operations data cleansing activity including for SEN2 data returns
- Deliver regular and timely data reports for all elements of the EHC statutory process, identifying trends and issues to raise with the SEND Operations Lead (SOL), in relation to statutory timescales
- Take active role in ongoing development of Capita systems (Capita Superuser) and its use in the Quadrant
- In collaboration with the COGs support the implementation of consistent and streamlined practice and processes
- Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
**Skills, Knowledge, and Experience**
- Educated to A level with a relevant qualification in communications, SEND or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
- Demonstrable experience of conflict resolution and complaint avoidance
- Expert knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of managing sensitive communications in a variety of contexts, with a range of different audiences and through different channels.
- Experience of working under pressure and working flexibly.
- Detailed knowledge and working experience of IT systems including Microsoft Word and Excel and database systems.
