Our main base in Liverpool was newly opened in 2020 and provides modern, excellently equipped office and clinical areas.
To work as the UGI/HPB dietetic clinical lead to develop the dietetic service for HPB and Upper GI oncology with Upper GI dietetic colleagues and as part of the Dietetic team and Allied Health Professions within the Trust.
Contribute to a multi professional approach to patient care with contribution to MDT HPB clinics
To liaise with other HPB and UGI specialist dietitians in surgical and non-surgical centres to ensure high quality continuity of patient care for HPB and Upper GI oncology patients
We are a tertiary cancer centre, providing nonsurgical cancer care. Our reputation and specialist services attract national and international cancer patients. Our three specialist cancer centres are in Aintree, Liverpool and Wirral. We also operate specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, making us one of the largest NHS providers of non-surgical cancer treatment for solid tumours and blood cancers. Our clinical model also includes the provision of chemotherapy in the home and workplace.
Together, this enables us to provide a comprehensive range of inpatient care, acute oncology, radiology, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We are also the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and we host the region’s Teenage and Young Adult Unit.
To work as the UGI/HPB dietetic clinical lead to develop the dietetic service for HPB and Upper GI oncology with Upper GI dietetic colleagues and as part of the Dietetic team and Allied Health Professions within the Trust
To provide expert knowledge, education, advice and support to healthcare professionals in relation to nutrition and dietetics as part of the management of oncology patients
Providing high quality, evidenced based nutrition and dietetic service to complex HPB oncology patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, including MDT oncology clinics and cover Upper GI patients for colleagues during periods of absence as required
Education and training to other members of the HPB and Upper GI MDT both at CCC and externally
Clinical supervision of newly qualified staff/band 6 dietitians
Involvement in student training
Collation of relevant outcome data for HPB and Upper GI dietetics
Be responsible and participate in audit, development and implementation of guidelines/protocols/policies in HPB and Upper GI speciality
Work closely with HPB dietitian and team at LUFT and local DGH’s to ensure seamless patient care
