**Job Title**: Retail Support Officer

**Responsible to**: Head of Retail

**Contract**: Permanent

**Salary**: Up to £24,000 pro rata

**Hours**: 21 per week -Monday 8.30am - 1.30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8.30am-12.30pm, some weekend work may be necessary.

**Who we are**:
St David’s Hospice is a local charity providing hospice care to adult patients across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey in Northwest Wales. The Hospice provides Inpatient Care, Day Therapy and Hospice at Home across three clinical sites in Llandudno, Bangor and Holyhead. In 2022 it will cost in the region of £6million to fund the care that St David's provides.

The Hospice’s network of 22 shops together with the Retail, Fundraising and Lottery teams all contribute to making sure that the overall target can be met with the support of the Marketing Team and over 500 volunteers who give their time, saving the Hospice approximately £350,000 per annum.

**What you’ll do**:
Support the Head of Retail in the implementation of rotas, standards, polices and training across all St David’s Hospice staff and volunteers in our 15+ stores.

Contribute towards the overall St David’s Hospice retail strategy for the next three years and beyond, including shop refurbishment plans, merchandising and income targets.

Provide support to the Shop Managers and Donation Centre Manager in their duties.

An excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with strong customer service, financial and IT skills, you will have the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks efficiently.

**We are looking for someone to**:

- To administer staff absence / leave using the hospices HR database, Breathe HR.
- To ensure all holidays, sickness and other absences of salaried staff are recorded appropriately in line with the Hospice procedures.
- To embrace the Hospices IT systems and keep abreast of new technologies which can help develop the role.
- To provide remote and one to one support to Shop Managers and Relief Managers.
- To utilise all available systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting and responses.
- Maximise profitability across the department through effective management of cost controls and stock allocation.
- To develop professional and positive working relationships with Shop Managers, the Donation Centre Manager, volunteers, and colleagues across the Hospice.
- To assist the Head of Retail in ensuring that financial targets are being met and assisting Shop Managers with any concerns.
- To contribute to the development of new seasonal stock and merchandise.
- To work with the Donation Centre teams to ensure that systems and process are up to date and workable.
- Handling complaints handling from staff, volunteers, and the public. Escalating as necessary.
- To ensure that all paid team members complete mandatory e-learning appropriate to their role, and in a timely manner.
- To undertake risk assessments, and spot checks for each shop and ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are always adhered to.
- To escalate any health and safety concerns.
