About the role
- This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

- The base location for this role is Greggs House, though a degree of hybrid working will be possible.

What you'll do
- Design and develop internal audit programmes to identify risks and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Work closely with colleagues at all levels across the business in the planning and delivery of internal audits.
- Ensure the completion of internal audit fieldwork, including the identification and testing of key controls; involving the analysis of complex data and other forms of information.
- Participate in discussions relating to challenges to audit findings and negotiate mutually acceptable outcomes, communicating difficult messages sensitively.
- Take responsibility for drafting, agreeing and finalising internal audit reports for the attention of senior managers and Operating Board.
- Ensure that any actions are appropriately allocated to the relevant individual and department to ensure swift resolution.
- Follow up action plans to ensure these are addressed in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report on the progress of internal audits.
- Challenge existing practice and procedure where there is an opportunity to operate more efficiently or simplify processes, and agree solutions for improvements.
- Build relationships of openness and trust at all levels across the organisation.

About you
You will fit right into this role if you:

- Thoroughly understand the principles of internal audit, governance and internal control
- Can quickly grasp complex legislation, regulation, policies and procedures
- Are aware of the wide range of compliance issues to be managed by companies, particularly food retailers
- Have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, being able to quickly build rapport and establish credibility
- Have proven high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, working methodically
- Are able to analyse and make clear and effective judgements based on complex data, numerical reports and other forms of information and make suggestions to improve controls
- Have experience of, and the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously to tight timescales
- Can communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and have great report writing skills
- Have good IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel and Teams
