**Building Control Plan Checker**
**Job Ref: N Tyneside 5260413889621**
**Pay Rate: £17.00 per hour PAYE**
**This role can be home based, or an office base is available in North Tyneside** Reporting to the Building Surveying Manager, the Building Control Plan Checker will be responsible for overall plan check management to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated guidance for both residential and commercial projects Key Responsibilities:
- Check plans for compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Carry out statutory consultations with the Fire Authority and/or Water Authority; and addressing any issues raised.
- Ensuring all plan checks amendments are addressed within the statutory timescales
- Deliver a quality and consistent service, liaise with clients to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Liaise with onsite inspectors and contractors as required
- Provide support to, and assist in the development and training of Assistant Building Control Surveyors
- Take a proactive approach to self-development and keep an up to date working knowledge of best practice associated with the area of work

- Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution or working towards (RICS, CABE, CIOB)
- Knowledge of relevant standards/legislation
- Current building control experience in residential, commercial and mixed-use developments
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to work with minimum supervision in line with the building control policies and procedures, and the council’s codes of conduct and values
