Cardiff and Vale UHB are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry Healthcare Support Workers with a commitment to delivering high quality patient care.

Mental Health Nursing is broad and hugely rewarding and we are looking for kind, caring and empathetic people to join our busy mental health wards which are full of opportunities.

These wards include both adult mental health, mental health services for older people, neuropsychiatry and young onset dementia. You will need a passion for caring about people and to want to understand who people are, where they have come from and who they want to be in order to promote their recovery.

We will teach you the specialist skills you need for a rewarding career in mental health.

Full time (37.5hours) and part time (24hours) positions are available.

Full training

On-going learning and development opportunities and an individual personal development plan to guide your development within your new role.

The successful post holder will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and experience within Cardiff and Vale UHB. You will be actively encouraged to undertake further study to enhance your knowledge and skills.

You will be expected to be able to assist the registered nurse.

providing assistance with personal care
recording and reporting of vital signs
assisting with admissions and discharges
Ensuring a high standard of infection control procedures, in accordance with our policies.
Maintaining ward stocks, keeping storerooms organised, keeping clinical areas and equipment clean and tidy, and any other duties as delegated by nursing staff.
Assisting patients in maintaining their personal hygiene. Helping our patients to shower/ bath, provide washing facilities access and the use of toilet facilities - promoting independence where possible.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full education, and training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
