Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom Peninnis Farm Lodges & Sandpiper Apartments Full time

COUPLES JOB. We are looking for a hardworking, friendly & reliable couple to become part of our small team on St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly (28 miles off the coast of Cornwall). We have 5 luxury holiday apartments and 7 lodges on our small family run farm. There are 12 changeovers spread over 6 days of the week and we require a housekeeper (to clean alongside another staff member) and a gardener/handy person who will also help on our 50 acre farm where we have chickens, pigs and cows and so duties will be varied.

**Gardener/Handy Person Duties**:

- Looking after the lawns and gardens
- Cleaning windows, BBQs & wood burner stoves on changeover days
- Light property maintenance (when required)
- Helping out on the farm feeding animals (sometimes with guests) along with other general farm jobs.

The approximate weekly hours will be 38 hours over 6 days but more hours can be found for applicants with practical skills.

**Housekeeper Duties**:

- Cleaning the guest accommodation (alongside another housekeeper) to a very high standard
- Checking the inventory so that the property is fully equipped for the next guests
- Checking and report any maintenance issues
- A small amount of linen washing and ironing (using a roller iron, however most laundry goes to the laundrette)
- Packing and delivering laundry to properties/ laundrette
- Making sure all the supplies needed for changeovers are well stocked and the laundry room is tidy & well organised

Having an eye for detail is very important as we expect a level of responsibility from our housekeepers. We have high standards of tidiness and cleanliness throughout our 4* properties and this will need to be maintained. Experience (or a good knowledge of housekeeping) is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. The job is labour intensive and fast paced.

The weekly hands on cleaning hours are about 22 hours, approx. 3-5 hours a day depending on workload, 6 days a week (however this does change slightly if there are fortnight bookings). The washing/ironing/bag packing duties total approximately 6 hours a week and so the average weekly hours would be 28 hours.

**Wages -**

The hourly rate for both positions is between £12-£14 depending on experience and we offer an end of season bonus for a completed season. The positions are seasonal with an immediate start until mid November (we can be slightly flexible on start and finish dates) and the day off is Sunday. Once changeovers are complete the afternoons can be your own if you are happy with less hours or if additional hours are preferred then we can assist with local recommendations for evening work.

Both applicants must have a full UK Driving License (or equivalent) and speak good English.

We are looking for a hardworking, flexible, trustworthy and enthusiastic couple with a mature outlook who maintain high standards throughout their work and are able to work well as a team and use their own initiative. Good customer service skills are also required as there is sometimes contact with guests.

Please note this is a job for a couple, not for single applicants as we require 2 people and the accommodation has only 1 bedroom.

**Accommodation -**

Accommodation is provided on the farm in a comfortable and private fully furnished 1 bedroom barn conversion which has Wi-Fi, TV, shower room, fully equipped kitchen/lounge/diner and separate bedroom. The property is non-smoking and the rent is £150 per week (£75 each and all bills are included).

St Mary’s is the biggest island in the archipelago (only 5 islands are inhabited) and is about 2½ miles by 1¾ miles and is home to 5 pubs, many restaurants & cafes, a Co-Op, newsagents, doctors, Post Office, small indoor pool, gym, modern sports hall, tennis court, library, lots of galleries and a small golf course. There are many local sports clubs (such as rowing, cricket, football & badminton) and fitness classes (spinning, circuits, Zumba, TRX, Pound & yoga) that you could join whilst on the island to get to know the locals and become part of the small island community.
