**About the role and our team**

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Planning Policy Assistant to join The Planning Policy Team within Cabinet Office

The team is responsible for the delivery of the Island Development Plan and other planning policy documents.

This role presents the opportunity to understand how planning policy and development plans are drafted and delivered by the Isle of Man Government and what it means to be involved with a variety of projects associated with the sustainable development of the Island.

You duties will include:

- Writing reports and data analysis
- Working with ArcMap
- Undertaking research and summarising information
- Collating documents
- Liaising with stakeholders both inside and outside of Government
- Helping to organise meetings, consultations and evidence for public inquiries on development plans

Excellent customer service skills are needed to enable effective working with other officers and political members across Government.

This role will suit someone who is interested in developing their skills in spatial planning, including graduates who have studied Town and Country Planning at degree level who are looking to start their career in planning.

Progression can be made in this role to an Associate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). This is an industry recognised partial professional qualification awarded in recognition of achievement and demonstrable involvement in planning. This will grant you the use of the post-nominal ‘AssocRTPI’ and is a key milestone on the way to full Chartership.

You will also have access to our Learning, Education and Development Centre and the fantastic range of fully funded courses we support.
