**About us**

**Volunteer at a St Vincent’s community shop**

We are recruiting volunteers to help us run our busy shop in Erdington. Our volunteer roles are rewarding and flexible to suit your schedule. We are social, engaging, rewarding and our goal is to be passionate about our volunteers we will help you to gain experience, learn new life skills, meet new friends and hopefully develop new interests.

We would love you to come and join us as a **Retail Volunteer** at **The St Vincent de Paul Society** (or as it is often known - the SVP) at our **Bury** shop. We are an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need. We feed the hungry, we support the homeless, we visit the lonely and we befriend the stranger.

The Retail Assistant Volunteer, is a customer facing role, primarily to deal with any customer enquiries and process sales using a cash till.

**Main Duties Include**
- Dealing with a variety of enquiries
- Processing customer sales using a cash register and handling money
- Assisting with stock rotation and window displays
- Receiving customer donations
- Promoting and helping customer Gift Aid Donation
- Help keep the shop clean and tidy
- Sorting & pricing

**Induction, Training and Development**

No experience necessary, each volunteer will receive an induction and training will be available in all aspects of the role.

**Expenses and support**

Any travel costs incurred up to the value of £5 can be reimbursed with a valid travel ticket.

**Safeguarding**

This role will require volunteers to sometimes work unsupervised, and will involve handling money. References are required for this role.
