**Key Capabilities**

M&S is continuing to turbocharge data And we're looking for a dedicated Data Governance Business Partner to support the M&S data strategy of ‘Digitising M&S’ and 'Winning through data', via trusted and discoverable data.

Trusted data underpins both the day-to-day operation of our business processes, as well as supporting the overall transformation of M&S. As a result, we need to ensure data is managed to the same standard as any other asset would be.

Partnering with data stewards, you'll support them with their day-to-day activities to ensure that data within their remit is fit-for-purpose, driving value and protected.

**What you'll be doing**
- Engage with colleagues across the Domain area to 'story tell' data governance: to explain the 'why?' on how data governance outcomes align with business priorities**.**:

- Agree Data Governance Artefacts for Strategic Data Set Delivery Roadmap.
- Identify data stewards and other key data-related roles across the domain area, and train and support them in the skills required for them to be successful in their roles**.**:

- Co-ordinate the involvement of data stewards in pro-active and reactive data governance activities.
- Set up communities of practice of data stewards and other key data roles in line with the Domain models, including cross BU activities where data is an enterprise-wide asset**.**:

- Ensure compliance with data governance principles, policies, and standards**.**:

- Develop deep understanding of business unit strategies and priorities to position how improved data quality and governance will support and enable their delivery, and keep the Data Governance roadmap up to date in line with emerging priorities**.**:

- Build strong and effective relationships with business leaders and key business partners, becoming the 'go to' person for all data governance -related discussions, risks, and issues**.**:

- Benefits realisation activities: quantify the benefits realised / risks mitigated**.**

**What experience you'll need**
- Good communication, change and programme/project management experience.
- Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining a successful Data Governance Framework.
- Experience of delivering Data Quality measurement and remediation across Cloud Platform.
- Good knowledge of retail processes and services..
- Data Governance Tooling experience (eg Alation, Ataccama, Purview, Informatica).
- Ability to engage, motivate and gain active participation with individuals and teams to whom data quality, governance and protection may not be their number one priority.
- Problem solving: to be able to analyse and manage complex issues and opportunities and collaborate with others to develop innovative solutions with positive outcomes.
- Highly organised and a self-starter with the ability to work on your own initiative and to be pro-active in the prioritisation and planning of your workload.
