**Job introduction**:
We are currently looking for a Full-time Social Work Resource Officer to work within the Specialist Community Disability Service to undertake assessments for requested packages of support for children and young people with disabilities.

Brighton & Hove have undertaken an innovative restructure of its services for Children and Adults with learning disabilities to create a strong, sustainable, and ambitious whole life pathway within the disability service.

This has enabled the management of children's and adults' (multi-disciplinary) disability services to merge within the Families, Children and Learning Directorate with two new Heads of Service, one with responsibilities for aged 0-24 and the other for 25+. The Heads of Service have responsibility for three social work assessment pods whose functions are differentiated by the ages 0-14, 14-24 and 25+. This new service is called the Specialist Community Disability Service (SCDS). The formation of the Specialist Community Disability Service is already proving itself successful in ensuring that service users are provided with positive transitions into adulthood. This is reflected in positive feedback from both service users, families, and professionals.

**About the role**:
The Social Work Resource Officer will work alongside Social Workers in the Specialist Community Disability Service. You will be tasked to undertake holistic assessments of children with a wide range of disabilities who's parents / carers have requested a package of support from the Local Authority. Your role will be to undertake these assessments in partnership with the children and families and in consultation with the the agencies already involved in the families lives.

We are looking for someone who preferably has experience of working within Children's Services, who has knowledge and understanding of a wide range of disabilities and who is skilled at gathering information and report writing.

This post requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
