Imaging Cancer Co-ordinator
This is an exciting time to be joining LUHFT. The NHS Long Term Plan sets out important ambitions for cancer including the overarching commitment to ensure that by 2028:
55,000 more people will survive 5 years or more each year following diagnosis
Three in four (75%) cancers will be diagnosed at an earlier stage.
LUHFT FDSs will upgrade and bring together the latest diagnostic equipment and expertise, building on models that have been piloted within CRUK and Macmillan Cancer Support. The national vision for FDSs means that, in time, such services will be able to offer:
A single point of access to a diagnostic pathway for all patients’ symptoms that could indicate cancer.
A personalised, accurate and rapid diagnosis of patients’ symptoms by integrating existing diagnostic provision and utilising networked clinical expertise and information locally.
This LUHFT vision will support earlier and faster diagnosis through more efficient diagnostic pathways and an improved personalised diagnostic experience, whilst reducing unwarranted variation and improving opportunities for staff development and innovative working.
This post is a key member of Liverpool University Hospital Trust’s (LUHFT) Cancer Services Delivery Project which has been set up to support LUHFT in establishing and delivering Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) pathways in several tumour sites across the Trust.
As the Imaging Cancer Co-Ordinator, you will work within the LUHFT Imaging Service and very closely with Trust Cancer Services team and Operational Teams to deliver Trust-level access to Imaging services to ensure FDS compliance across the Trusts Cancer Tumour Sites.
The post holder will manage the day-to-day scheduling of Imaging Appointment for patients on a Cancer Pathway. Will monitor systems that are in place to track progress of patients against agreed internal turnaround times and access standards, making sure the Diagnostic Access and Performance Manager and Cancer. Management Teams are made aware of anything not on target to be achieved. They will work with the Operational and Clinical teams to make sure this cohort of patients have timely access to Imaging to support delivery of and to maintain sustainable cancer pathways.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
