**Support Assistant - Business Support - Grade 8.**

**Salary Range: £24,501 - £26,850pa.**

A role has become available for a Support Assistant within the busy Commercial & Business Support, Highways and Transport. If successful, you will support the Business Support Manager by supervising the day-to-day operation of the team, providing technical and financial support for Highways Delivery and lead on ensuring financial transactions in Highways Delivery comply with LCC standard financial instructions and relevant finance and tax legislation.

**Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to)**:

- Providing expertise and support to the team carrying out transactional finance activities for Highways Delivery ensuring compliance with the Council’s Standard Financial Instructions and current finance and tax legislation.
- Supervising the workflow and distribution of tasks on a daily basis and to ensure staff are trained and available to process receipts, orders, invoice queries and raise job numbers in a timely and professional manner.
- Participating in recruitment, induction, training, and development programmes to help develop the service and ensure it has the skills it needs to meet the needs of the service.
- To oversee and ensure the resolution of financial matters including processing invoice information for payment, payment issues, income and expenditure and pro-actively deal with queries from suppliers and customers in a professional manner ensuring business continuity.
- Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring of income and expenditure involving collection, inputting, sorting and extracting information on financial databases. Assisting with closing of accounts at year-end.

**To succeed in this role, you will have**:

- Experience of working in the highway maintenance, construction industry &/or a finance environment, and of managing technical, financial or administrative processes.
- Experience of problem solving & analysing information and of proactive planning and organisation
- You have dealt with and developed relationships with internal and external customers on the telephone and face to face
- Knowledge of management competencies and of using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services.
- You have good verbal and written communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work. You have a willingness to be flexible, learn and undertake a variety of different tasks.

**Additional information**:
The nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations other than their designated base.
