Overall Purpose of the Job

This role is responsible for leading the Outreach service and team members. Supporting companions included within the service with development learning. Ensuring that the rough sleeper outreach service in the East Riding is delivered as per their contract, targeting new and entrenched rough sleepers and focusing on proactive signposting, assisting direct access accommodation options, health interventions, and liaising with agencies that support welfare needs. Working alongside the vital homelessness networks in the East Riding, this role is pivotal in linking the most marginalised rough sleepers into short term accommodation and for progressing companions within the community. This role involves including Emmaus companions and volunteers to become effective outreach workers, ensuring collectively that East Riding is well covered, teams are visible and proactive in all activities.

Accountabilities

Report to funders weekly

Organise Rotas

Reports to the Director

Organise training for all team members appropriate to outreach activities

Develop and maintain relationships with agencies across the city supporting homelessness

Support people on the streets or in appropriate setting

Link rough sleepers with available provision

Work within the agreed strategy for each client including when identified enforcement actions are taking place

Maintain good communication with all relevant partners including statutory agencies and voluntary partners.

Ensure data collection is accurate and comprehensive in line with LA expectations

Ensure attendance in voluntary network, weekly drop ins, community meetings, statutory forums

Ensure Health and Safety is maintained

Use all social media platforms to promote the visibility and work of the outreach team

Respond to alerts and communicate outcomes where appropriate

Support companions with learning, progression and mentoring

**General**

Adhere to Emmaus Hull and East Riding policies and procedures at all times

Cover for the other members of the team as necessary

Being proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development

Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff

Attend and participate in training and team meetings as required

**Essential Requirements**
- Experience of engaging vulnerable people experiencing complex multiple needs
- Experience of multi-disciplinary agency working, including enforcement agencies
- Driving license
- Experience of encouraging marginalised people to access support
- Experienced in delivering funded projects and reporting on outputs and outcomes

**Skills, knowledge and Abilities**
- Ability to communicate across a range of audiences, clients, colleagues, statutory and voluntary partners
- A solid working knowledge of homelessness provision
- A working knowledge of action planning for clients on a longer-term basis.
- An understanding of the needs of street homeless people, and the issues which affect them
- Knowledge and awareness of street outreach practices and models used to engage rough sleepers
- A clean current driving license
- An understanding and commitment to Diversity and Equality
- Willingness and ability to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements.
