We are recruiting a temporaryHousing Advice Officer to join our client's Housing Options Team to work as part of a team of Housing Advisors providing a comprehensive information, advice, advocacy, casework and consultancy service to individuals and agenciesincluding households at risk of homelessness and other vulnerable services users.

Hours of work - Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00 (Hybrid)

Main Duties:

- To provide a comprehensive information advice, advocacy and consultancy service to individuals and agencies including households at risk of homelessness and other vulnerable services users.
- To investigate complaints under Protection from Eviction Act 1977 and other Landlord/Tenant legislation delegated to the Housing Needs Service for prosecution, and compliance with all relevant legislation regulating the investigation and prosecution ofcriminal offences, including Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. Participation in case conferences with the Team Leader, and representatives from Legal Services to prepare cases for appropriate action, including prosecution. Giving evidence in Magistratesand Crown Court as appropriate.
- To work with clients to resolve their legal problems by undertaking casework, including contact with third parties, legal research, and representation at court or tribunal where appropriate. This will involve the preparation of legal arguments and documentsfor hearings.

Personal Spec:

- Significant work based experience within a similar role
- Current experience of working as an advisor undertaking casework in a paid or similar environment
- Significant experience of working in a housing or similar environment with vulnerable clients
- Experience working with challenging service users and effectively managing service user expectations and conflict
- Experience of interviewing members of the public and liaising with other organisations
- Experience in managing a caseload and keeping appropriate case notes and work based systems accurately updated
- Detailed knowledge of landlord and tenant law
- Detailed knowledge of the law related to mortgages and secured loans
- Detailed knowledge of homelessness legislation and case law, and homeless prevention techniques and strategies
- Thorough understanding of debt and debt recovery procedures
- Knowledge of the social and financial costs of homelessness to individuals, local authorities, and other relevant bodies
- Knowledge of Safeguarding adults and children
- Knowledge of Data Protection
- Able to communicate ideas and information in an effective manner that is clear, understandable and timely. Able to present information to wider audience and groups
- Self-motivated and able to organise own workload effectively prioritising tasks accordingly to meet deadlines
- Able to take accurate and timely minutes at meetings
