The Wood Foundation (TWF) was established by Sir Ian Wood and his immediate family in 2007 to address some of society’s greatest inequalities and issues and deliver systemic change.

The Foundation is a programme manager and funder. It prides itself on its innovative and visionary approach to identifying gaps in support and developing context-driven, collaborative interventions. TWF is proactive in its approach, using its expertise to identify, deliver and support initiatives which will create the greatest impact.

The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is its biggest youth programme and is delivered in hundreds of secondary schools each year across all of Scotland’s 32 local authorities. Each school is responsible for directing a £3000 YPI grant to a local charity through a unique programme of teamwork, research, and competition. YPI has a proven impact on personal, enterprise, employability and citizenship skills. It has been cited in a number of HMIE reports as an example of best practice in Citizenship Education. Alongside YPI, there are also Excelerate, RAISE and other investments and initiatives, all focused on the development of young people as well as addressing root causes and impacts.

TWF is looking for a new Evaluation and Impact Lead to research and report on a wide range of information within an education context and with the approach to champion systemic change for Young People in Scotland, with the aim of developing and contributing to future strategies and framework. Knowledge of the third sector or Education sector are preferable, as you will be working closely with the UK Director and Communications manager to move ‘from Stats to Story’ and enable the clear communication of your reports and findings internally and externally.

Information must be accurate, timely, and trusted, to ensure evidence-based decisions are made and that investments are sustainable and effective and delivered to approved standards.

This role will also feature a collaborative aspect, liaising with remote programme teams closely, providing support and guidance for the learning programmes/areas of investment. To be successful in this role, you will require strong analytic and research skills, able to seek opportunities to improve knowledge base and promote good practice, whilst contributing to the creation of strong communication streams and updates.
