Permanent Role

**Purpose of the role**:
To support and assist the Financial Controller in providing all aspects of financial accounting including day to day management & maintenance of financial ledgers, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of information and reporting.

**Key Accountabilities**:
**Purchase ledger**
- Process invoices.
- Process payments.
- Obtaining authorisation for expenditure.
- Match authorisation to invoices.
- Dealing with suppliers.
- Creditor reconciliations.
- Allocate payments.
- Weekly payment runs

**Sales ledger**
- Raise internal Housing Benefit & Service Charge invoices.
- Raise external invoices.
- Posting invoices to sales ledger.
- Debtor reconciliations.
- Dealing with queries.
- Dealing with customers.
- Process receipts.
- Allocate receipts.

**Cashbook / Bank / Petty Cash**
- To complete bank postings.
- To complete bank reconciliations.
- To process petty cash transactions.
- To complete petty cash reconciliations.
- To process payments & receipts.
- To allocate payments & receipts.
- To process staff mileage claims.
- To process adhoc bacs payments.
- To process monthly net pay.

**Processing journals as required**
- Correct posting errors.
- Prepayments.
- Accruals.
- Income adjustment.
- Payroll.

**Payroll**
- Preparation of monthly payroll workbooks in conjunction with managers.
- Liaison with payroll bureau.
- Support with Absence system.
- Maintenance of staffing lists to assist managers
- Preparation of month end payroll processes such as journals, payments to HMRC.

**Housing Benefit**
- Liaising with Housing Benefit departments.
- To review notification letters and ensure these are correct.
- Resolve any issues.

**Additional areas of accountabilities.**
- Support managers, staff and service users in our accommodation services in respect of financial support to resolve any issues.
- To support Financial Controller with annual review and preparation of Housing Benefit & Service Charge increases in conjunction with Housing Associations, refuge staff and service users.
- Maintain Housing Benefit and Service Charge Registers.
- To assist in the annual statutory accounts year end processes.
- To undertake all administrative tasks in conjunction with Financial Controller.
- To deal promptly with correspondence and telephone enquiries in conjunction with Financial Controller.
- To assist Financial Controller in providing regional management accounting and monitoring information as necessary.
- To undertake any training and development activities identified by Financial Controller/CEO.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade.

**Essential**:
You will be able to demonstrate the following key knowledge, skills, behaviours and experience:

- 5 GCSE’s inc Maths & English. NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
- Numeracy skills and an ability to understand, and analyse information and data
- Must be able to demonstrate accuracy.
- Sound verbal reasoning.
- Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Office 365.
- Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasking in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Commitment to on-going professional development.
- Time management skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality & Professionalism.
- The post holder will be required to meet the requirements for a satisfactory DBS check.
- Competency in Information Technology including internet and software packages.
- Commitment to the principles, aims and objectives of Calan DVS.
- Possession of a valid full driver’s licence and ability to use own car for work purposes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Ability to work on own in an unsupervised setting or as part of a team, to also be a strong team player.
- Enthusiastic, positive and energetic approach.
- Awareness of equal opportunities and ability to work in a non-discriminatory way
- **Desirable**_
- Ability to speak Welsh.
- An accounting or finance qualification
- Previously worked in payroll or finance environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the Charity Sector
- Experience of using Finance Software e.g. Sage
