**Education Co ordinator**:
Job description

Full time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 11 Months

Play an integral role in supporting children and young people vulnerable to criminal exploitation, who are open to Leicester City’s Children’s and Young people’s justice service, by increasing their opportunities accessing and/or sustaining their education, training and employment therefore keeping children and others safe and lowering the chances of illegal activity.

You’ll join a multi-agency citywide team made up of qualified staff from a range of disciplines: Youth Justice officers, Youth Justice advocates, probation officers, police officers, education, substance misuse and mental health professionals. Work with young people aged 10 to 17 years. We offer support for those at risk of becoming involved in offending or anti-social behaviour to divert them away from the criminal justice system. We want to ensure young people are given the right support to make positive decisions for their futures.

This is a full-time, fixed term post working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday (until December 2023). You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at Halford House or working remotely from home to suit your needs. On occasion, you may be required to travel and work outside of normal office hours however, we do offer flexible and agile working to reflect this and promote a healthy/work-life balance.

**What you’ll be doing**

Not one day will be the same in this varied role. Your day-to-day activities will range from manging a caseload of children and young people with a focus on progression into education, training, and employment in accordance with youth justice and education practice to providing specialist guidance and support to staff.

You’ll develop positive relationships, working with schools, partner agencies, and organisations to identify, broker and prepare individual education packages and learning plans for young people. In addition, you’ll provide information, advice and guidance to children and young people enabling them to access education, employment, and/or training by carrying out the necessary ETE assessments and interventions with those open to our services.

In this role, you’ll be working with case managers, prevention officers, social workers and stand as a key member of our wider multi-agency team. You’ll be expected to attend at multi-agency meetings and take part in operational and strategic meetings.

**What you’ll need**

As a dynamic individual who is passionate about working with children and young people to really make a change. You’ll understand the importance of giving children/young people a voice where, with support, they can promote their individual strengths and capacities in a nurturing educational setting.

With sufficient experience working either in the Education system and/or Youth Justice system your knowledge surrounding issues affecting children/ young people, the principles of Effective Practice and Risk Assessment along with great understanding of relevant Criminal Justice, Safeguarding, and Education Legislation will not only benefit you within your own role but will also put you at an advantage in the successful management and supervising of staff, volunteers, and/or students.

As a motivated character with great interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to successful communicate with a range of stakeholders. Your experience and knowledge will make you a reputable effective member who will be able to represent our service at a number of multi-agency forums without major concern.

Appointment to this role will be based on an Enhanced Children’s DBS.

**What we can offer you**

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
