Are you a hardworking and motivated radiographer looking to specialise in breast imaging? Come and join us and you will be part of our friendly
and supportive multi-disciplinary breast team based at the Nottingham Breast Institute undertaking mammography practice within the NHS breast screening programme and symptomatic breast services.

You will hold a BSc. in Radiography or equivalent and have current radiographic experience. You will also be registered with the Health Care
Professions Council and preferably hold the College of Radiographers’ Postgraduate Award in Mammography Practice or UK recognised
qualification. However, for the right applicant Post Graduate training will be provided. A UK driving license and use of a vehicle for work purposes
is essential.

Main duties of the job

At the Nottingham Breast institute we provide outpatient services for those requiring diagnosis or treatment in the Nottingham area and we deliver the Nottinghamshire breast screening programme with a screening population of over 100,000 women. In this role you will work alongside our experienced team of advanced practitioners, radiographers, assistant practitioners and radiographic assistants providing exceptional patient care within both screening and symptomatic mammography clinics. You will also work within our family history, breast cancer follow-up and screening assessment clinics and will have the opportunity to perform Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography and Digital Breast Tomosynthesis.

Our breast screening service operates over 4 sites: the Nottingham Breast Institute, Ropewalk House and at our 2 mobile units at various
locations. You will rotate to each of these locations whilst supporting and supervising our assistant practitioners.

Working for our organisation

As a National Training Centre we train mammographer’s as part of the Post Graduate Award in Breast Imaging Practice and provide a variety of
study days across the year which our staff have opportunity to attend. We actively encourage and support Continuous Professional Development
activities and have won "Best Poster" at the Symposium Mammographicum on 2 occasions. We remain actively involved in research trials and clinical evaluations.

Working hours are 08:30 until 17:00 and a full UK driving license and use of a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

Mammography posts have a gendered protected character, due to the nature of the work. This is an occupational requirement, as a result the post is exempt under section 9; part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 and therefore only female applicants should apply.

If training is required Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change T&C's will be applied for the duration of the training period.

Rotate between static and mobile sites completing high quality mammography examinations for symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.

Complete specialised mammography techniques including, contrast enhanced spectral mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis.

Analyse the quality of both your own and the mammograms of junior staff making appropriate adjustments as necessary.

Plan and prioritise your own workload, and the workload of junior staff to maintain service and clinic workflow.

Complete quality assurance tests for digital mammography equipment analysing the results and acting appropriately according to local rules and NHSBSP guidelines.

Provide a high standard of patient care and communication to your patients and their relatives and communicate effectively across a wide range of health care professions.

Supervise and support Assistant Practitioners.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent or Diploma of the College of Radiographers
- HCPC Registration

Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate Award in Mammography Practice or the Certificate of Competence in Mammography

Experience

Essential criteria
- Significant experience in radiography practice
- Experience supervising and supporting junior staff

Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a specialist breast unit
- Current experience in mammography practice

Physical skills

Essential criteria
- Able to manipulate objects and machines accurately and safely
- Able to undertake moderate effort for short periods of time constantly throughout the day
