An exciting opportunity has arisen for an administrator to join the new, expanding, high-quality NCL Community Red Cell Service.

This is a chance to be part of something transformative and innovative. You will be involved in supporting the provision of specialist and non-specialist haemoglobinopathy services to adults and children with sickle cell disorder across the network.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic, well organised, efficient, and who can work autonomously as part of the admin team and wider multidisciplinary team.

The post holder is expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterised by trust, mutual respect, and open, honest communication. This will include:
Patients and carers

Community Red Cell Service patient facing team

Community Red Cell Service administration team

Multidisciplinary Red Cell teams in relevant inpatient and outpatient departments

Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre (HCC) team

General Practitioners and other primary care colleagues in relevant localities

Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to work as part of the team and independently. This post requires a self-motivating individual with a proactive approach to administration and an ability to manage professionally patient enquiries.

The postholder will be required to support the team and coordinator with all administrative queries.

To carry out an initial triage of patients. R egistering patients onto the electronic patient record system such as RiO, and other relevant patient systems.

To manage appointments for patients, and to provide advice and information to callers about community clinical services, including criteria for eligibility and other service specific details.

To administer the processes for establishing efficient clinics; referrals, booking interpreters and transport for patients who require them, ringing to confirm attendances with patients, organising appointment letter print runs and sending out letters, processing outcome and discharge forms, cancelling and rescheduling clinics

Keeping up to date appointment diaries, highlighting where sessions have been dropped, liaising with management to ensure plans are put in place to cover lists according to service guidelines.

To work as part of a team and when necessary, assist colleagues in their workloads and provide cover for them during absence.

Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as agreed and delegated by your manager.

To provide support with all the day to day running of the administration needs of the Red Cell service to enable the team to meet the needs of their patients, and deliver quality patient care.
