Housing Benefit Assessment Officer

I am working with a Public Sector Organisation based in Haringey who are looking for experienced Housing Benefit Assessment Officer for 2 Months Initially.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying £26.21 Umbrella per Hour. The role is in scope of IR35.

Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities
- Verification of claimant identity, income/capital and crosschecking of data, as specified in the Verification Policy. Use of secure DWP, HMRC and Government systems to check and download confidential information
- To keep an adequate record of all claims made and regularly update information received via the scanning/computer system or manually where appropriate
- To Support identifying potential entitlement to other State Benefits, including underlying entitlement and Second Adult Rebates cases

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

- To demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of wider Welfare Benefits legislation and procedures and the ability to keep abreast of changes of legislation.
- To evidence good analytical skills, using them to examine case files and to make decisions in an impartial manner.
- To possess good verbal and written communication skills and to be able to communicate effectively in a variety of ways in liaison with customers, council staff and external agencies.
- To possess good knowledge of Word and Excel and to demonstrate the ability to learn computer systems required for carrying out duties of a Housing Benefit Assessment Officer

Qualification
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent at A-C grade or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Experience in working within a benefits environment with experience of assessing benefit entitlement
- Experience of working in a performance focussed environment

and available to start on no more than a weeks notice.
