Sunderland City Council is seeking to recruit a Senior Campaign and insight Officer within the Corporate Affairs team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely across the council’s communications function to drive a culture of insight-driven planning and evaluation.

The council’s City Plan sets out our ambitions to be a healthy, dynamic vibrant city and this role will help understand work in achieving the plan’s outcomes.

You will have experience of developing, planning and evaluating communications campaigns with a clear focus on longer term outcomes. You will be naturally collaborative and able to build strong relationships to influence at all levels. You will support the team and wider stakeholders including senior managers and external partners to embrace an insight-led approach to activity.

The role will ensure information from a range of different sources is brought together to deliver actionable insight. You will be confident in sharing your evaluation in a range of ways as appropriate, including data visualisations.

This is a dynamic role which will involve working across several projects at any one time.

**Main purpose of job**

To support the Senior Communications Manager - People, and wider Communications and Corporate Affairs function in the management and delivery of Campaign Planning & Insight, across the Council.

To lead on Sunderland City Council’s corporate affairs campaign planning and insights and effectively measure performance against related activity and communication plans

**Key responsibilities**

To build relationships with the wider team and organisation as well as partners, often at a senior level, with the aim of creating opportunities to raise the profile and reputation of the council, specifically through development, planning and evaluation of campaigns

To support the team to measure longer term outcomes and not just outputs

To lead on planning for the wider communications team - working with colleagues to create a forward plan and to have oversight of content calendars and clash calendars

Create actionable insight and work with stakeholders and colleagues to recommend and iteratively develop the best approach and solution to specific issues

Support Assistant Director to deliver this activity and work within the wider team and alongside colleagues in other teams across the council, businesses, partners and suppliers such as design agencies and PR consultancies to deliver the aims set out in the City Plan.

Take a systematic approach to collation of key data and insight, plot this against relevant campaigns and use it to support planning

**Key tasks**

Be adept at using data from various sources (resident surveys, paid media, web and social analytics etc) to develop reporting, spot opportunities/threats and improve performance of corporate affairs activity

Develop simple and intuitive visualisations data and insight and to support corporate affairs work and engage with colleagues and partners

Work with colleagues in the corporate affairs service and wider council to plan and scope a calendar of campaigns and key activity in support of organisational priorities, informed by data and insight.

Work adeptly across several competing priorities at any one time.

Support the wider management team to take data and insight linked to organisational objectives and in turn support the development of corporate affairs strategies.

Use data and insight to drive new creative, forward thinking ideas for engagement and develop proposals for new campaigns as appropriate utilising emerging best practice and cutting-edge technology and tactics within the industry.

Bring together colleagues and other resources to create a culture of strong team working and high-performance.

Be a visible and collaborative team member, encouraging partnership working across the organisation and with key partners for the council.
