**Data Architect
**A Data Architect is required by one of the great centres of research, knowledge and innovation. Their pioneering reputation as a Russell Group University attracts students, experts and partners from around the world.
The Data Architect is a new role as part of a newly created Architecture and Design function that will be instrumental in helping to deliver a mandate to modernise their data environments and integrations. You would work to ensure that all products are cloudready - and that they can move legacy systems to new cloud environments.
The University offer an amazing pension scheme contributing in excess of 20% as well as a 35 hour working week and a great holiday allowance in excess of 30 days.
Reporting to the Head of Architecture and Design, the Data Architect will be an integral member of the Architecture Team, responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise-wide data strategy, ensuring the strategy supports the current and futurebusiness needs.

This is an amazing opportunity to join IT Services, as they embark upon a new strategy to deliver a new TOM, which will result in the delivery of a number of significant digital & technology initiatives. This new model will result in huge investment withinboth IT Services, and the department itself, as they move to a modern, collaborative working space.

**KEY DUTIES**:

- Support the Head of Data Services with the development and progression of an enterprise-wide data strategy to support delivery of corporate objectives.
- Manage the development of architectures models for specific data systems - with reference to appropriate tools and methods, ensuring that these are understood and employed effectively in architecture development.
- Provide advice on technical aspects of data architecture, modelling, development and integration, ensuring that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
- Manage the preparation of related technical plans within change programmes and/or projects.
- Work with the Head of Data Services and other IT Services' Data Services leads to:

- Derive data management structures and metadata to support consistency of information retrieval, combination, analysis, pattern recognition and interpretation, throughout the organisation.
- Define and manage data models, objects and services throughout their life cycles.
- Plan effective data storage, sharing and publishing within the organisation.
- Independently validate external information from multiple sources.
- Assess issues which might prevent the organisation from making maximum use of its information assets.
- Maintain and oversee compliance with information and data standards including management and handling of enterprise data.
- Provide expert guidance in the selection, provision and use of database and data warehouse architectures, software and facilities - providing specialist expertise in the design characteristics of database management systems (DBMS) or data warehouse products/services.
