**Hours**:Permanent: 38.66 Hours per week, for 37 weeks term-time.

**About Us**:
Mary Hare educates 240 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.

**The Role**:
Be part of the team helping the pupils at Mary Hare to learn to grow in understanding of themselves and to develop their knowledge skills through the curriculum - with the aim of making each child a confident, self-motivated, and independent learner.

At Mary Hare we have a large TA team who work flexibly depending on the needs of the students. You will be required to carry out group work and 1:1 work across a variety of ages and needs. We will consider your previous experience, qualifications and preferences when planning your timetable.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To support students as directed by the Teacher which may include:

- Deployment within the classroom supporting the whole group or an individual
- Withdrawing an individual or small group for specific intervention
- Leading an activity to develop students’ knowledge and understanding
- Develop differentiated teaching resources to support pupils learning
- To work with student’s during prep time
- Monitor individual student progress and report any concerns to the Teacher/SENDCo
- Monitor and report changes in a students’ Special Educational Needs to the SENDCo
- Assist in updating student records including the SEND register
- Liaise between professionals involved with a student to ensure continuity of the provision (e.g. Speech and Language Therapists, HLTA, Form Teacher, Head of Year)
- Communicate with parents regarding the students’ progress and achievement
- Assist with Audiological checks
- Support the Form Tutor in organising Form events and ensuring all students are organised
- Undertake 1:1 intervention to develop a student’s reading, writing and numeracy
- On limited occasions to supervise their own class during teaching staff absence

- Good communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible.
- Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education
- Other equivalent relevant qualification in childcare
- Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice within an education setting
- Experience of working in a SEN environment
- Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (under supervision)
