Principal Researcher

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research & Development Team in order to facilitate public health research activation in one of the
most deprived areas of Wales. A research framework has been developed to support the implementation of a system wide approach to improving
well-being in Cwm Taf Morgannwg. The Well-Being of Future Generations Act has provided an exciting and unique opportunity to bring together
public sector organisations, on a Cwm Taf Morgannwg footprint, to implement innovative ways of working to deliver a whole society approach to improving well-being. This collaborative approach will include a strong emphasis on prevention, early intervention and sustainability. This role will
shape, implement and integrate the research framework into the work of the Public Services Board.

The post will involve the planning, development and implementation of research projects, to include the submission of high quality grant

Under the leadership of a Consultant in Public Health and the Assistant Director of R&D, the post holder will work closely with key stakeholders locally and nationally and will take a strategic approach to advancing both capability for and specific programmes of population health research in Cwm Taf Morgannwg.
- Support the Director of Public Health and the Public Services Board to integrate effective research into the Well-Being Plan and establish a Population Well-being Research Centre.
- Examine the research framework in the context of the system wide approach to well-being in Cwm Taf Morgannwg and identify any gaps.
- Identify and synthesise research that will inform the development and implementation of the Plan.
- Identify new areas where research can be integrated into the implementation of the Plan, providing clarity on the investigations and definitions.
- Identify funding opportunities to establish the Population Well-being Research Centre.
- Coordinate, secure and manage research funding streams, delivering project expenditure within budget.
