Senior Addiction Liaison Nurse-alcohol and Drug

The shift pattern for this post is to be confirmed.
As an integral member of the Addiction Liaison outreach Team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Service. The post holder will be a key link between Acute Hospitals, liaison psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (ADRS) and wider care providers including primary care, police, Scottish ambulance service, homeless services and other local HSCP partnership services.
The post holder will be responsible for assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes relating to alcohol and drug recovery using a strength-based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person. Defining the level of need of problematic alcohol and/or drug use patients and targeting appropriate services pre discharge from hospital.
The service offers an outreach response to the hardest to reach individuals.
The service includes a Non-Fatal Overdose (NFOD) response pathway with the Scottish Ambulance service and local HSCP services.
The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by registered staff as appropriate. The post holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. This involves working in a variety of Hospital/primary care environments.
Participating in as well as providing regular Nurse Supervision and undertaking Nursing Line Management responsibilities are critical aspects of the role. Supervising the practice of others, monitoring undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities and supporting the team lead in the ongoing learning and development of the staff team are important key functions and aspects of this role.
The post holder will provide ongoing advice to staff responsible for the day to day care of patients with problematic alcohol and/or drug use in the hospital/primary care setting. The role will facilitate the development of competencies of hospital nurses within a practice framework of intervention and provide an education programme which suits the needs of staff directly involved in the care of patients with problematic alcohol and/ or drug use in the hospital/primary care setting.
Staff are expected to participate in shift work including evenings and weekends, The shift pattern for this post is to be confirmed.
It is essential that you are currently a registered Nurse Level 1 NMC registration with at least 2 years addiction experience or 2 years community experience at Band 5.
