The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday with occasional week-end and evening work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an integral member of the multidisciplinary team within Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service.

This post will have specific responsibility in the delivery of care and treatment within the day service component of ADRS.

Day service provision permits more intensive clinical intervention-based level of physical and mental health complexity as a consequence of drug and alcohol use. Providing full assessment of psychiatric, psychological, physical, and social status of individuals. With the clinical remit and core functions including prescribing, administration, monitoring and review of medication as part of an evidence based comprehensive programme of care. Including preadmission preparation for detoxification and stabilisation and after care/discharge planning in partnership with other alcohol and drug services and wider provision. Together with delivery of a range of effective evidence based psychosocial interventions within a stepped care approach to psychological interventions/therapies to support ongoing recovery.

The day service currently operates across Inverclyde ADRS service delivery hours Monday to Friday.

As the band 6 nurse within day service the post holder will have line management and leadership responsibility for clinical/caseload supervision and monitoring practice and development of the nursing team. Whilst ensuring the safe and effective running of the day service and allocation of duties to staff and co-ordinate duty rotas.

The post-holder will support the team to continue implementation and delivery of national and local guidelines including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Standards and Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) Alcohol Recovery Pathway.

As part of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, implementation/evaluation ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients without direct supervision.

The post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours, identifying vulnerabilities to gender, domestic abuse, adult/child protection and mental health whilst coordinating and responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving their physical and mental well-being. Undertaking case manager responsibilities when required. An important part of the role will be to educated patients in harm reduction and support/encourage patients in their recovery journey.

The post holder will be responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.

Key functions of the post holder will be supporting the team leads in the ongoing learning and development of the staff including student nurses, participating in and supporting others in the maintenance of robust clinical governance within ADRS which includes establishing and maintaining; effective communication, effective leadership, policies, procedures and operational standards, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, a culture of learning and strategies to maintain safety and minimise risk. In the absence of the nurse team lead provide nurse leadership and undertake management responsibilities/ duties when required.

This post holder will be responsible to their direct nurse line manager.

It is essential that you are currently a registered Nurse Level 1 NMC registration with at least 2 years addiction experience or 2 years community experience at Band 5.
