**Salary**: Band 5, **£16,122 to £17,552 **per annum pro rata, £24,362 to £26,073 full time equivalent

Hours: Part time ( **27.5 hours per week **, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only)

Start date**:Monday 19 February 2024 **(or later, pending checks)

**The Service**:
The Vision and Hearing Team (VHT) is a highly regarded Team within the Inclusion Service, which is an integral part of the Education Department. The team comprises of Specialist Teacher Advisers, Higher Level Teaching Assistant, a Habilitation Specialist for visually impaired pupils and Communication Support Workers for hearing impaired pupils. As a service we take pride in our work by valuing others, focusing on what's important so that we make a real and positive difference.

**The Role**:
You will train to become a Vision and Hearing Team Communicator to support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils who require help to access verbal communication in a school environment. You will complete British Sign Language Levels 1 and 2 and develop other key skills, and you will support pupils in schools across the city in developing their own signing and communication skills. You will help pupils to access the National Curriculum and achieve the objectives on their Education Health and Care Plans. You will support good communication between pupils, teachers, families and other professionals, and you will help maintain equipment and keep records.
